Avnet Technology Solutions Signs Distributorship Agreement with IBM in France for Servers and Storage Products
Avnet Technology Solutions, a value-added distributor of enterprise computing products, embedded subsystems, software and services, and an operating group of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), today announced a new distribution agreement with IBM in France. With immediate effect, Avnet is distributing IBM’s System x™ and System p™ range of servers as well as its storage solutions. For Avnet Technology Solutions, a proven and successful IBM distributor on a global scale, the agreement represents a new market opportunity.
’We’re delighted to be working with IBM in the French market, said Sukh Rayat, country manager of Avnet Technology Solutions’ French subsidiary. ’The proven quality and cost-effectiveness of IBM’s servers and storage solutions will help our partners expand their product range and assist in their cross-selling and up-selling activities, while taking a solution-based approach to meeting their customers’ business requirements.’
The System x is one of IBM’s most popular servers for the small and medium business (SMB) segment, which forms the backbone of France’s economy. The affordable servers are Intel® or AMD®-based and run under Windows® or Linux®. They are suitable for use as file servers, Web or database servers and for supporting network infrastructure and some business applications. System p servers offer high performance at a reasonable price for any size of organization. This series supports more power and scalability for computing-intensive applications running under UNIX® and Linux®. IBM’s range of storage solutions comprises disk and tape systems; storage area networks (SANs), network attached storage (NAS), and corresponding software and media products. IBM’s storage offering includes products that complement both System x and System p server ranges, enabling Avnet Technology Solutions partners to offer complete solutions to their customers in the French market.
’IBM and Avnet Technology Solutions have had a successful partnership for many years now - in fact, Avnet is our number one value added distributor worldwide,’ said Jean-Christophe Knoertzer, director of Business Partner Organization at IBM France. ’The new distributorship agreement in France for System x, System p and storage solutions brings significant benefits to all concerned - especially Avnet’s reseller partners and their end customers. They’ll benefit from proven server and storage solutions backed up by Avnet’s deep knowledge and expertise in this area.’
