Thomson Extel Surveys Announces Results of its Focus France Survey

Thomson Extel Surveys, part of Thomson Financial, an operating unit of The Thomson Corporation (TSX: TOC, NYSE: TOC), last night unveiled the winners of its dedicated country survey in France.

The Focus France Survey reflects the views of the global buyside community, holding French equity assets. This year’s survey has seen a record participation of 350 buy-side firms, with contributions from more than 700 professionals in more than 21 countries, with 60% of the votes coming from outside France. The Focus France Survey ran from October 1 to October 31, 2007.

For the second time, Thomson Focus France has been conducted in association with L’Agefi and brings together the L’Agefi “Les Grands Prix de l’Analyse Financière” awards and the Thomson Extel Focus France Survey, to deliver pre-eminent rankings of leading brokerage firms, analysts and salespeople for French equities. Votes have been weighted according to the size of French Equity Funds under Management and French Equity Commissions Paid of the voting firms, in line with the Pan-European Thomson Extel Survey – with all key ratings based on commissions, the true reflector of market importance.

Exane BNP Paribas took the top prize of Leading Brokerage Firm in the French Market for the second consecutive year, with Olivier Esnou of Exane BNP Paribas rated as the Leading Individual Analyst in the French Market.
