The 30-A V30200C Provides Extremely Low VF of 0.648 V In Three Packages to Replace Synchronous Rectification Solutions

In a move to provide a low-cost alternative to synchronous rectification solutions, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today launched the industry’s first 200-V, 30-A dual high-voltage TMBS® Trench Schottky rectifier.

The V30200C offers several advantages over planar Schottky rectifiers. As operating voltages move to 100 V and above, planar Schottky rectifiers tend to lose their advantage of high switching speed and low forward voltage drop to a substantial degree. The patented TMBS structure, however, diminishes minority carrier injections to the drift region, minimizing stored charges and improving switching speed.

With an extremely low VF of 0.648 V typical at 15 A and +125 °C, and superior switching performance, the V30200C reduces power loss and improves the efficiency of switchmode power supplies and OR-ing diodes. To lower costs by reducing the component count and saving board space, the rectifier can be used as an alternative to synchronous rectification solutions while matching their efficiency and thermal performance.

The device is optimized for consumer and computer applications with power ratings from 80 W to 200 W, including high-power, high-efficiency telecom base station power supplies; OR-ing diodes for redundant switchmode power supplies in servers and industrial PCs; secondary rectification circuits for switchmode power supply adaptors in desktop PCs, servers, and notebook PCs; and adaptors for high-power plasma display panels (PDP) TVs, LCD TVs, and LCD monitors.

The V30200C is offered in TO-220AB, TO-263AB, and TO-262AA packages, and is compliant with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC.

Samples and production quantities of the dual high-voltage TMBS rectifiers are available now, with lead times of four to eight weeks for large orders.

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc., a Fortune 1,000 Company listed on the NYSE (VSH), is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of discrete semiconductors (diodes, rectifiers, transistors, and optoelectronics and selected ICs) and passive electronic components (resistors, capacitors, inductors, sensors, and transducers).
