Avnet Electronics Marketing and Amphenol Celebrate 50-Year Milestone

PHOENIX -- Global electronic component distributor Avnet Electronics Marketing, an operating group of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), and the leading provider of high performance backplane interconnect systems, Amphenol Corporation

(NYSE: APH) are celebrating their 50-year alliance.

It all began in 1957, when Bendix Electrical Components (since acquired by Amphenol) named Avnet Electronics Supply Co. (now Avnet Electronics Marketing) an authorized factory jobber and assembler of its electrical connectors. This marked the beginning of Avnet’s first and longest running franchised relationship.

Half a century later, Amphenol Corporation has become one of the largest manufacturers of interconnect products in the world - Avnet one of the largest distributors of electronic components, computer products and technology services and solutions.

Together, Avnet and Amphenol provide the industry with an array of choices for design technology, demand creation and fulfillment value - Amphenol engineers and manufactures products in the Americas, Europe, and Asia, and Avnet Electronics Marketing sells them around the globe.

To date, Avnet has sold more than one billion dollars worth of Amphenol products globally - for use in diverse military, commercial aerospace, industrial and communication and information market applications. ’We have seen tremendous technological advancements in our industry since we began our relationship with Amphenol and are very proud to have been part of the evolution,’ said Phil Gallagher, president of Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas. ’The customers we serve today range from the largest in the industry to emerging ones - some of whom will be the future leaders of tomorrow in diverse electronic markets and in cutting-edge technology. 50 years is an amazing accomplishment and we look forward to many more exciting things to come.’

Earlier this year, the two companies expanded their franchise agreement to include the Amphenol Alden Products Company portfolio of high performance connectors and cable assemblies. Amphenol Alden products are used in medical, instrumentation and harsh-environment industrial Ethernet applications and are engineered for reliability and functionality while exposed to rough environmental stress. This has enabled Avnet to provide even more products, services and logistical support to customers throughout North America.

’The combined leadership and commitment of Avnet and Amphenol has provided the foresight to grow with a changing customer base through the combined strength in technology and the finest in customer service,’ said Gary Anderson, senior vice president and group general manager of aerospace and industrial operations for Amphenol Corporation. ’I have seen this formula hold true as both companies expand on a world wide basis. In 1957, both companies came together with very specific products and markets in the aviation and missile industry. 50 years later together we address a worldwide electronics market with a wide array of interconnect technology customer solutions.’
