Virilion announced today that it has named Ken Deutsch as its newest Senior Vice President. Fresh from creating DirectChange.org, which leverages interactive media to raise funds for grassroots African projects, Mr. Deutsch has come to Virilion to lead its public affairs practice.

“With 15 years of experience running online campaigns for large nonprofit and corporate clients, Ken’s experience is unmatched in this industry,” said Dan Solomon, CEO of Virilion. “We are delighted to have him on board.”

Ken Deutsch has been at the forefront of public affairs innovation for over twenty years developing and managing grassroots and interactive campaigns to both nonprofits and corporations.

Prior to his joining Virilion, Ken developed and managed the Internet practice at Issue Dynamics from 1993 to 2006. In that capacity, Ken was one of the first in the 1990’s to foresee and utilize the Web as a public affairs tool and oversaw the development of:

• the first corporate public affairs Internet site (1993);
• the first major political party committee and candidate Internet sites (1994);
the first Internet to phone gateway to Congress (1998).
• and the first online grassroots mobilization product (1998).

“I am thrilled to be joining Virilion,” said Ken Deutsch. “Virilion is the premier Interactive agency for public affairs. I look forward to working with the experienced team at Virilion to not just help our clients with their Interactive needs, but to help them win on their issues.”

Ken has also served as a public affairs Internet consultant for dozens of leading national non-profits, trade association and Fortune 100 companies.

Earlier in his career, he had been Field Director for Public Citizen and worked as the Organizing Director for the New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG). In his position at NYPIRG he served as field director for the New York City Charter ballot initiative in 1988, Election Day coordinator for the 1990 New York State Environmental Bond Act, and was the principle field organizer for Earth Day New York City 1990. With over 2 million attendees, Earth Day NYC 1990 was one of the largest political demonstrations in history.
