WEBWIRE

Showcasing Groundbreaking Seamless Roaming between HSDPA, CDMA EV-DO and Wireless Mesh Networks

NOVEMBER 09, 2005, HONG KONG - Nortel* [NYSE/TSX: NT] will showcase the innovative power and new revenue potential of its comprehensive wireless broadband portfolio in live demonstrations across multiple wireless technologies and in-depth presentations by senior executives at the 3G World Congress & Exhibition 2005. The event will be held November 16-18 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Nortel (booth #1711) will demonstrate how wireless operators can harness the power of 3G and use emerging wireless technologies to deliver the mobile broadband multimedia experience today’s end-users increasingly demand.

Nortel demonstrations and presentations will detail the company’s technology innovation, recent momentum in the marketplace, and seamless roaming milestones to show how emerging wireless broadband technologies can be more economically harnessed to provide customers with uninterrupted access to a wide variety of high bandwidth applications.

The company’s widely deployed CDMA2000 1xEV-DO solution - including 1xEV-DO Revision A - will be highlighted through live demonstrations of wireless ’triple play’ services such as VoIP, video conferencing, mobile TV and gaming. In addition, live HSDPA demonstrations will focus on converged mobility solutions to bring ’wireless DSL’ functionality to the UMTS world. Following significant success across Asia and globally, Nortel will also present its Wireless Mesh Network solution for unrestricted campus and metropolitan wireless access.

As a major highlight to the event, Nortel will leverage the power of it’s unique experience across all three of these technologies with a live demonstration of seamless roaming of broadband services -- between HSDPA, CDMA EV-DO and Wireless Mesh networks - to showcase the capability to meet mobility needs of users today and into the future.

Nortel will also spotlight the potential of fixed and mobile WiMAX solutions and how the newly launched LG-Nortel joint venture is focused on realizing the powerful potential of this complementary access technology.

During the exhibition, Nortel executives will participate in the following key events:

* November 16 - Opening Plenary Session: An opening keynote address entitled “3G is Finally Here…Now What?” by Richard Lowe, president, Mobility and Converged Core Networks. Lowe will outline the challenges and opportunities facing wireless operators today.
