Tektronix, Inc. a leading, worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, and Allion Japan, Inc., announced that Allion is now providing High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) test services in Japan using Tektronix test and measurement equipment. Allion Japan offers customers a variety of services, including HDMI CTS (Compliance Test Specification). The HDMI Test Solution from Allion provides the same complete HDMI tests as those provided in Authorized Test Centers (ATC). They are the first such test services provided outside of established ATCs in Japan.

HDMI is a new HDTV standard led by the home electronics industry that offers high-definition video and digital audio. Support for this standard is expanding rapidly in Japan and throughout the world. Allion Japan is the Japanese subsidiary of Allion Test Labs, a leading IT testing organization based in Taiwan. The Taiwan lab has been offering HDMI test services since spring 2006. The lab has seen increasing requests for testing from Japanese customers. Allion launched the new service in Japan in order to meet the increasing demand for HDMI certification testing services in the Japanese market. Allion has adopted the Tektronix serial data test bench, as it provides the most proven test instruments and software in the industry. “HDMI test services provided by Allion are characterized by the efficiency of completing HDMI ATC-standard compliance testing services, flexible support for customer needs that are unavailable at existing ATCs, and affordable prices,” said Minoru Ohara, Managing Director, Allion Japan. “In order to realize these advantages, we adopted the test and measurement solution from Tektronix. Tektronix is an excellent partner to help us deliver a breakthrough customer experience for HDMI testing. In addition to world class instruments, the company provides us with expertise in debug and analysis and has been very responsive to our support needs.”

Allion’s HDMI test services include HDMI testing, HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection system) testing, CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) testing and compatibility testing among HDMI products, covering both individual device measurement and interface testing. Beyond testing, the service solution satisfies additional customer needs such as debug support and environment rentals.

“We are very proud to be associated with Allion in providing HDMI compliance testing to companies in Japan,” said Jit Lim, Director of Technology Solutions Group, Tektronix. “Tektronix is committed to providing engineers with the industry-leading serial data test capabilities to speed their HDMI tests and improve time to market.”
