Nokia Intellisync Mobile Suite selected as Saudi Telecom - ALJAWAL’s mobility platform
New York, NY - Nokia today announced, that ALJAWAL, the mobile arm of the largest integrated Telecom company in the middle east Saudi Telecom (STC), offers Nokia Intellisync Wireless Email to its customer base: as both a hosted service and as behind-the-firewall deployment. ALJAWAL has already launched the hosted wireless email service, branded as My Em@il.

The Saudi Arabian mobile operator ALJAWAL is a subsidiary of the national telecom operator Saudi Telecom. ALJAWAL is serving more than 16 million customers via 2G/3.5G mobile network that covers 98 percent of the urban areas including all highways and country roads within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. According to Communications and Information technology Commission (CITC) *) in the Kingdom, 4.8 million users had access to the Internet at the end of 2006 representing some 20 percent of the population. While the mobile penetration rate, according to Arab Advisers Group, lies between 60 percent and 70 percent, the importance to deliver wireless access to email is evident.
