Fujitsu’s Keith Horn to Deliver Keynote on Semiconductor Technology’s Role in WiMAX’s Success

Sunnyvale, CA, Fujitsu Microelectronics, a leader in broadband wireless technology development, will demonstrate video streaming, web browsing and file transfer using its new WiMAX Reference Design Kit at the Global WiMAX Summit in China 2005, Beijing, November 10-11, at booth #5.

The Fujitsu demonstration will show a base station communicating with a subscriber station built using the Fujitsu WiMAX Reference Design kit, which has been developed using the company’s industry-leading WiMAX SoC, the MB87M3400. The demonstration features video streaming between the two stations, along with web browsing and file transfer using FTP. The kit incorporates all the required hardware and software features to enable designers to develop WiMAX-compliant base station and subscriber station equipment. It is now available for customers worldwide.

Keith Horn, senior vice president of marketing and sales at Fujitsu Microelectronics America, will provide an update on the pivotal role of semiconductor technology in the WiMAX industry in a keynote speech scheduled for Thursday, November 10 at 3:35 p.m. Horn will speak on Fujitsu’s leading role in developing WiMAX-based Broadband Wireless Access systems, focusing on the underlying semiconductor technology that is fueling the adoption and success of WiMAX worldwide.

Horn’s presentation is entitled “The Semiconductor Technology Fuels WiMAX Success: Providing WiMAX System Solutions Utilizing the New IDM Business Model.” The keynote will review the details of the company’s WiMAX-compliant baseband SoC, which lets systems and equipment manufacturers achieve WiMAX certification and deliver interoperable products.

Horn also will discuss Fujitsu’s new IDM Business Model, which enables Fujitsu to provide development, design and production services for its WiMAX customers. In addition, the presentation will analyze how Fujitsu can expand the global WiMAX implementation effort by providing state-of-the-art WiMAX technology.
