Birdstep Technology ASA, the world-leading provider of secure seamless connectivity and mobility software, has won a contract with Cosmote, the largest mobile operator in Geece. The contract includes EasyConnect GO client and server software as well as software licenses for initial deployment 2008.

Cosmote selected Birdstep because of the wide support of cellular modems, the auto-update functionality provided in the Provisioning Tool in the Device Management Server and Birdsteps world leading position in delivering feature complete connectivity software client solutions.

The solution will be delivered already in the fourth quarter this year. Mobile broadband customers of Cosmote will benefit from Birdstep’s client software latest during first quarter 2008.

Cosmote is the leading mobile operator in Greece with more than 12 million subscribers and presence in four other countries outside Greece. Its existing HSPA network has been in service since June 2006.

With an increasing demand for Mobile Broadband, the number of different versions of cellular modems with different software versions offered by Cosmote is rising rapidly. EasyConnect GO supports hundreds of cellular modems and has a structured and fast process of adding and automatically updating the software to support new cellular modems as well as hardware upgrades. For Cosmote this means reduced support of different software from various cellular modems and a secured upgrade path that can be used to effectively cross sell, up sell and upgrade the software with ease.

For Birdstep this means that we are further strengthening our position and that more operator customers see the benefit that our EasyConnect product suite is delivering to mobile operators.

“We are pleased that Cosmote, a new operator customer to Birdstep and the largest operator in Greece, has selected our world leading software to enable mobile broadband Internet nationwide. We expect revenues already during the fourth quarter this year and high license growth 2008 as the mobile broadband market in Greece picks up”, says Petri Markkanen, CEO of Birdstep Technology.

Birdstep has developed the EasyConnect GO software to enable Mobile Operators to take advantage of the current high speed Mobile Broadband market growth. With more than 8 years experience from enabling and connecting laptops to cellular networks Birdstep has launched the EasyConnect GO – a connectivity client with all our industry experience pre-packaged. The software contains all key features such as roaming control, usage notification, Home Zone indication, update management with software and firmware upgrades over the air, unique branding, and a single client across all devices with rapid time to market.
