“Moonstruck” Star Olympia Dukakis to Shine at NYC Screening
New York, NY – Academy Award®-winning actress Olympia Dukakis will be the special guest at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ “Monday Nights with Oscar®” screening of “Moonstruck” on Monday, December 17, at 7:30 p.m. at the Academy Theater in New York City. Dukakis will join host Robert Osborne in a post-screening onstage discussion.
“Moonstruck” is the story of an Italian-American family in Brooklyn that succumbs to the mysterious sway of the moon. The romantic comedy, directed by Oscar-nominee Norman Jewison from John Patrick Shanley’s Academy Award-winning screenplay, stars Cher, Dukakis, Nicolas Cage, Vincent Gardenia and Danny Aiello.
Nominated for six Academy Awards®, including Best Picture (Patrick Palmer and Jewison, producers), “Moonstruck” won Oscars® for Actress in a Leading Role (Cher), Actress in a Supporting Role (Dukakis) and Writing – Screenplay written directly for the screen (Shanley). The film was also nominated for Directing (Jewison) and Actor in a Supporting Role (Gardenia).
This 20th anniversary screening will feature the original print submitted for the 60th Academy Awards.
