Projected Las Vegas Point Spreads on Likely BCS Matchups

WEBWIRE

Sports betting expert RJ Bell, the only sports bettor on Forbes’ recent list of Gambling Gurus, provides expert estimates of the Las Vegas point spread on likely college football National Championship Game match-ups.

Las Vegas, Nevada (November 26, 2007) – With just one weekend to go, three college football teams are left in the hunt for the BSC Championship. West Virginia has the clear inside track, needing only to win at home vs. Pitt. Las Vegas estimates the odds of WVU winning this game at over 97%!

Surprisingly, Ohio State has the best chance of being WVU’s opponent. If Missouri loses vs. Oklahoma, the Buckeyes are in . . . Las Vegas estimates Missouri’s chance of beating Oklahoma (Sooners are favored by 3 points) at only 40%.

The projected point spread on the Ohio State/West Virginia matchup would be zero (also called “pick-em”) which means Las Vegas believes the teams are exactly equal in strength. Both Ohio St. and WVU would be approximately 3 point favorites over Missouri. Interestingly, the home field in New Orleans would make LSU the favorite over any team in the country if they somehow slipped in the BCS game.
