Atherton, California, November 26, 2007— PodTech releases Photowalking above Silicon Valley with professional photographer Marc Silber, its latest video, by Robert Scoble, PodTech’s VP of Media Development and originator of the series.

Scoble said, “This is a different kind of photowalking than we usually do. First…we have a real, professional photographer (he even has the license plates to prove it). Second…we go for a nature walk up in the Long Ridge Open Space Preserve above Silicon Valley. The photographer is Marc Silber, who also teaches photography and has an
ebook on how to make better photographs”

Silber, in his fifth decade as a professional fine art photographer recently released his ebook Taking Memorable Photographs which is available as a free download along with Photowalking at www.silberstudios.com/blog

Silber’s passion for photography is evident in this video and his ebook. But there is another aspect to the story: Long Ridge Ranch, where the video was shot, was in part gifted by the Silber family to the Midpeninsula Open Space District in the 70s—decades before “green” was to become the mantra. Silber was the ranch caretaker and as he put it “I knew every tree, critter and pine cone on the entire 400 acre ranch. We were so fortunate to be able to prevent the destruction of the vast open space that we now enjoy.”

Photowalking combines Silber’s easy style and clear presentation with some down to earth fundamentals of fine art photography. As an example, “Ansel Adams taught his students to go out with a hole cut in a 3x5 card and simply look for images, with no concern for complicated equipment…” with a shot of Silber showing Scoble’s camera to look through the hole and thus learning to “frame” a photograph.

Since this edition of Photowalking’s release, blogs have been popping up with acclaim for the video, such as Lightening Mods: “Fellow professional photographer Marc Silber makes environmental portraits, natural landscapes and abstracts and now he takes us through a Photowalking journey above Silicon Valley where he talks about his photography experiences, shares some of the most interesting aspects of Landscape photography and also give some good tips for catching great Landscape images.”

Marc Silber is a fine art photographer, living on the San Francisco Peninsula with his wife, children and retriever “Whitney” (named for the mountain, which they have climbed.) He has a extensive catalog of black and white photographs as well as color photographs taken around the world on his many adventures. He is passionate about photography, loves to show his work and to teach photography. “Photography has given me a way to continuously see life newly. I love the joy of a fresh image, captured and shared with others—and I love to teach others how to take great shots.”
