Anheuser-Busch received the Excellence in Philanthropy Award from the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) Law Foundation at its annual convention in Las Vegas on Saturday. Carlos Viramontes, manager of Community Relations for Anheuser-Busch, accepted the award on behalf of the company. “Anheuser-Busch has generously supported NAPABA since our inception in 1989,” said Michael Chu, president, NAPABA Law Foundation. “The success of our hallmark programs such as the NAPABA Law Foundation Anheuser-Busch Presidential Scholarship, the Thomas Tang National Moot Court Competition and our annual convention would not be possible without their continued support.”

Each year, two Anheuser-Busch NAPABA Law Foundation Presidential Scholarships are awarded to law students who demonstrate outstanding leadership potential to serve the Asian Pacific American community. Madhuri S. Singh, Class of 2010, and Miya Saika Chen, Class of 2009, from American University’s Washington College of Law, were the 2007 scholarship recipients.

“It is an honor for us to be awarded the NAPABA Law Foundation Excellence in Philanthropy Award,” Viramontes said. “Our long-standing relationship with NAPABA and programs such as the Anheuser-Busch NAPABA Law Foundation Presidential Scholarships have encouraged a new generation of law students and future community leaders. We congratulate the 2007 recipients of the scholarship and wish them both much success.”
