Credit Suisse, main sponsor of the Salzburg Festival since 2006, strengthens the partnership with a contract extension until 2012.

Salzburg/Zurich.-Credit Suisse, a global financial services company with Swiss roots, is consolidating its partnership with the Salzburg Festival. Active as main sponsor since 2006, Credit Suisse is now extending its contract with the famous Salzburg Festival by a further four years, to 2012.

The Salzburg Festival, founded in 1920, is one of the world’s most famous festivals for opera, theater, and concerts. Taking place every summer, the Festival sets artistic benchmarks that leave a lasting impression on the international cultural scene. Credit Suisse has been the Festival’s main sponsor since 2006, and has only recently expanded its business operations in Austria, with offices in both Vienna and since today at Rainerstrasse 2 in Salzburg. The contract extension with the Salzburg Festival represents further recognition of the importance of the Austrian market. It also ensures that Credit Suisse will continue to act as main sponsor of the Salzburg Festival until 2012 at the very least.

Michael Rüdiger, Head of Market Area Austria, Germany, and Luxembourg, expressed his delight at the extension of this commitment. He said, “The Salzburg Festival is an outstanding partner for us because of the many values it shares with Credit Suisse. In addition to setting the highest standards of quality, the Festival also combines its traditional heritage with a bold and innovative spirit. Credit Suisse is very pleased about this extension.”

The President of the Salzburg Festival, Dr. Helga Rabl-Stadler, expressed similar pleasure. “The artistic quality of the Salzburg Festival can only be realized with partners who are prepared to make a long-term commitment,” she observed. “That’s why our relationship with Credit Suisse is such good news for us. With the contract now extended by four years rather than three as originally envisaged, we now have even greater security with which to plan the next few years.”

The new contract runs from 2008 to 2012. Alongside its sponsorship of the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, the New York Philharmonic, and the Lucerne Festival, the partnership with the Salzburg Festival forms a core part of a strong and perceptibly international commitment to classical music on the part of Credit Suisse.
