Sports betting expert RJ Bell, the only sports bettor on Forbes’ recent list of Gambling Gurus, provides remarkable facts on Kansas’ stunning 2007 college football season.

Las Vegas, Nevada (November 20, 2007) – The sports world is buzzing with talk of the 11-0 start from #2 Kansas. The Jayhawks face off against #4 Missouri on Saturday night. What most people don’t know is that Kansas has covered EVERY GAME this season against the Vegas number!

That’s 10 straight winners for Kansas vs. the point spread! (their September 8th game against SE Louisiana did not have a pointspread). The odds against a team winning their first 10 games against the vegas spread are 1024 to 1.

Examining data from 1980 onward, no team has gone undefeated against Las Vegas for the entire season. Ohio State in 1995 came closest, winning their first 11 games against the spread before losing their final two.

Surprisingly, Kansas has been favored in all but one game this season (the exception being the 10/6/07 game vs. Kansas St, in which the Jayhawks were 3.5 point underdogs.

The most wins vs. Las Vegas to start in the season for a NFL team is this year’s New England Patriots, which won their first 8 games against the spread before failing to cover vs. the Colts. No other NFL team since 1980 has started the season with more than 6 against the spread wins.
