Fujitsu Asia Announces Seven Dual-Core or Quad-Core XeonŽ-based Primergy Servers for ASEAN

WEBWIRE

Leading regional IT and communications solutions provider Fujitsu Asia today announced seven Primergy tower, rackmount and blade servers for the ASEAN markets.

Designed for Linux and Windows Server 2003 platforms, the new servers include:

* the TX150 S6, TX200 S4 and TX300 S4 tower servers
* the RX100 S5, RX200 S4 and RX300 S4 rackmount servers
* the BX620 S4 blade server

These seven models are powered by the dual-core or quad-core XeonŽ series of processors designed for high scalability, best-in-class virtualisation, cost savings and other benefits.

The XeonŽ processors are the first-ever processors to be manufactured on a 45 nanometre (nm) process, giving them nearly twice the transistor density of previous chips built on the 65nm technology.

Combining the latest XeonŽ processors with Fujitsu’s proprietary cutting-edge architecture and design allows the new Primergy servers to be engineered for enhanced performance and reduced power consumption. This makes the servers ideal for enterprises that demand superior performance, reliability, scalability and flexibility without compromising business continuity.

The TX series is the ideal application server for use as branch system or departmental server for business critical applications with high availability needs, such as:

* database servers
* e-commerce application servers
* communication servers for gateways, domains and firewalls

The RX series offers a flexible platform for data centres and server farm concepts, catering excellently for applications that demand maximum scalability, performance and availability in a space-saving rack cabinet.

Suitable as an application or terminal server for CPU-intensive tasks, the BX620 S4 blade server offers a large memory configuration and abundant communication options for virtually any data centre.

The seven new Primergy offerings may be configured with:

* the Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (Serial ATA, or SATA) interface, or
* the Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) interface

Servers configured with the SATA interface incorporate SATA hard disk drives (HDDs) with a 3.5-inch form factor, while SAS-configured machines include SAS HDDs with a 2.5- or 3.5-inch form factor.

In addition, all SATA and SAS HDDs are hot-pluggable and, in tandem with fully-redundant fans and power supplies, enhance the servers’ reliability, availability and serviceability (RAS) performance.

Availability
All seven new Primergy servers will be available for the ASEAN (including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam) markets beginning December. Visit http://www.fujitsu.com/sg or call 6512-7555 for more details.
