Harris Announces New XTCE Translator for OS/COMET Satellite Command and Control Product

WEBWIRE

FALLS CHURCH, Virginia, November 2, 2005 – Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) today introduced a new XTCE database converter for the company’s OS/COMET® satellite command and control suite of products. This new software tool further enhances the utility of the OS/COMET® product suite, enabling its users to easily translate databases in XTCE to OS/COMET® source files for real-time operations. XTCE is a telemetry and telecommand data exchange specification originated by the Object Management Group (OMG). OMG is an international, non-profit organization that provides a widely supported framework for open, distributed, interoperable, scalable, reusable, and portable software components based on OMG-standard object-oriented interfaces.

“Our XTCE database converter provides yet another example of the ongoing development and enhancement of the OS/COMET® product suite,” said Steve Smith, OS/COMET® business development manager for Harris Technical Services Corporation (HTSC). “OS/COMET® is the first COTS satellite command and control product to support OMG’s new XTCE format. This new format, coupled with our OS/COMET® converter, will further reduce the cost of OS/COMET®-based satellite command and control systems.”

The XTCE database converter is the latest component in the OS/COMET® product suite. The OS/COMET® product suite allows HTSC the flexibility to work with its customers in providing multiple levels of service, including turnkey systems, co-development of systems, consulting agreements, and service agreements for custom systems development.
