Five of the business success stories featured in this year’s “Entrepreneur 101” supplement to NJBIZ magazine profiled the accomplishments of New Jersey chapter members of the worldwide Entrepreneur’s Organization.

The New Jersey chapter of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization, often referred to by its initials EO, is a community of over 75 business entrepreneurs with combined revenue of $480 million. Members represent a diversity of vertical markets, with a combined total of more than 3,000 employees.

According to NJBIZ publisher D. Lee Carlson, this second annual Entrepreneur 101 supplement highlighted “some of the best and most innovative minds in business.” Carlson noted that 200 nominations were received. Of those, his editorial staff and a handful of highly respected sponsors selected only 26 businesses to use as “lessons for success.”

In the four-color supplement’s “Letter from the Publisher,” Carlson described those chosen as “men and women whose best practices have something to teach us all about creating successful enterprises.”

The five EO members each represented different sectors of New Jersey’s economy. Ed Delia, president of Delia Associates, has transitioned his second-generation, traditional advertising agency into a branding-focused marketing firm with an emphasis on strategic thinking and the use of cutting-edge technology. Christopher Guerriero, founder and president of Wisdom Books Publishing, uses his multimedia company to help people around the world to lose weight and gain energy. Jim Oostdyk, founder and owner of OK Auto, 4wd & Tire, is a nationally recognized dealer of automotive and off-road vehicle products. Tom Patania, president and CEO of Select-A-Ticket, has grown his business to become one of the premier concert and event ticket buying and selling services in the New York Area. Rogelio Santos, Jr., CEO of Voncore, helps more East Coast companies set up operations in the Philippines than any other firm in the country.

Each of these New Jersey EO members is an active member of the global community that makes up the Entrepreneurs’ Organization. With more than 6,600 members in 120 chapters and 40 countries, EO is a global community dedicated to enriching its members’ lives through dynamic peer-to-peer learning and once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

“We all help each other in very unexpected ways,” says current New Jersey Chapter president Bill Brand, managing partner of SWOT Management Group, a Hillsborough, NJ-based sales management consulting firm. “Open sharing within our membership helps us all steer clear of potential problems and take advantage of every opportunity to grow our businesses more efficiently.”

Facilitating the sharing process of the New Jersey EO Chapter are seven forums, each containing 8-10 chapter members in non-conflicting businesses. EO NJ members also have the opportunity to meet, learn and exchange with fellow members from around the world. The organization regularly hosts multi-day learning opportunities, called “Universities,” where members can learn from some of the world’s top business minds operating businesses in Australia, India, Canada, Latin America, and Europe, as well as the US.
