Audi FIS Ski World Cup starts at Sölden

The 2007/2008 skiing season has been opened: with an international press conference at Sölden (Austria) Audi yesterday gave the starting signal for the first race weekend of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup to which AUDI AG has been giving its name for as many as five years now.
The giant slalom will first see the ladies take to the slopes on Saturday morning, before the men will start to race on Sunday. Of course, the German stars of the scene around Felix Neureuther and Maria Riesch are also part of the action.

Audi is not only the name giver, and thus one of the key partners of the World Cup, but has also been supporting the German Skiing Association (DSV) for over two decades. In addition to joint events and exclusive training opportunities at the ultra-modern wind tunnel centre in Ingolstadt the DSV is also nailing its colours to the mast on the road: only a week ago the Alpine and Nordic athletes received their official team-wear as well as their new “company cars”: this season all the athletes are driving Audi models sporting the distinctive and eye-catching Misan red.

While in addition to the DSV the Alpine national teams from Sweden, Finland, France, Liechtenstein, Italy and Switzerland have been supported for a longer period of time, two new members have joined the sporting Audi family just this season: athletes from Austria and the United States can now also rely on the sporty as well as safe power of Audi models when they are not on the slopes.
