With increased competition from Game 1 of the World Series, The CW’s America’s Next Top Model remained tops with young women, while new drama Gossip Girl built or matched last week in key demos, according to preliminary live plus same day Nielsen ratings for Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007.

Top Model won the 8 to 9 p.m. hour with women 18-34 (3.9/11), teens (2.2/8), female teens (3.6/13), and ranked second in the time period with adults 18-34 (2.7/8).

At 9 p.m., Gossip Girl improved over last week in total viewers (2.5mil, +6%) and women 18-49 (1.9/4, +6%), and remained on par with last week’s telecast in adult 18-34 (1.7/4), women 18-34 (2.6/7), adults 18-49 (1.2/3) and teens (1.8/8).

This marks Gossip Girl’s best retention of women 18-34 (67%) out of Top Model since their season premieres back on Sept. 19. Once again, Gossip Girl won its time period among female teens (2.8/10).

Overall, The CW ranked first with female teens (3.6/13) and second with teens (2.0/7). The CW ranked third with women 18-34 (3.2/9), behind only Fox and ABC.
