Growing Wholesale Distributor Selects SAP ERP to Support Growth, Expand into Different Channels and Diversify its Business

LOUISVILLE, KY.- SAP America Inc., a subsidiary of SAP AG (NYSE: SAP), today announced that Maines Paper & Food Service, Inc. selected SAP® ERP to support its strategic road map for growth and expansion for the next 10 to 15 years. Committed to providing the highest level of quality, reliability and customer service to all of its customers, Maines will turn to SAP to enable new business opportunities, drive down current and future costs across its operation and provide better visibility across the enterprise.

Maines will join more than 1,600 wholesale distribution customers worldwide running SAP solutions. In collaboration with Answerthink, Maines’ chosen systems integrator for this project, Maines will consolidate and reduce the number of internal systems, migrate to an integrated environment, automate key business processes and empower its users with easy access to data. Currently servicing customers in 37 states from 10 distribution centers and employing more than 2,000 people in eight states, Maines is looking to expand its presence to all 48 states in the continental United States.

“Maines was looking for more than a software company when we selected SAP; we wanted a trusted business and technology solution partner that could carry us beyond our needs today and last us for the next 10 to 15 years,” said Christopher Mellon, CEO, Maines Paper & Food Service, Inc. “We needed a solution that will allow us to adapt quickly to change as well as to our customers’ needs. With SAP we are gaining a proven industry leader as well as an extensive ecosystem of resources.”

Maines is taking a phased approach to its implementation and will begin with finance followed by procurement, sales, order fulfillment and warehousing.

“SAP is proud to support Maines with our industry-leading technology solutions as the company embarks on its strategic road map for the future,” said Paul Pretko, SAP Industry Principal, Wholesale Distribution. “Our companies share much of the same commitment to our customers, and we look forward to building a strong relationship with Maines and to helping Maines realize its goals.”
