Dell Names Corporate Responsibility Organization Leader

Round Rock, Texas.-Dell today announced the appointment of Gilbert F. Casellas, former chairman of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, as Vice President of Corporate Responsibility. Mr. Casellas will report to Don Carty, vice chairman and chief financial officer of Dell.

“Gil’s appointment reflects Dell’s growing commitment to global leadership around the environment, corporate involvement and to driving the democratization of technology worldwide,” Mr. Carty said. “He and his team will oversee the heightened integration of economic, social and environmental responsibility into everything we do and ensure that the recruitment and development of diversity among our employees, customers and partners remains a cornerstone of how we do business.”

Mr. Casellas will lead an organization that includes the company’s global diversity, sustainability and corporate giving functions. He will spearhead the company’s direct and regular engagements with global diversity-related, nongovernmental organizations, community and socially responsible investment groups.

Mr. Casellas served as Chairman of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission from 1994 –1997. He also served as General Counsel of the U.S. Department of the Air Force, and Co-Chairman of the U.S. Census Monitoring Board. Most recently, he was a member at the Washington D.C. law firm of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo where he focused on workplace diversity and equal opportunity issues.

Mr. Casellas has a longstanding history of professional and public service. He is a director of the Johnnetta B. Cole Global Diversity and Inclusion Institute, a member of the board of directors of the Hispanic Federation, Inc. and chairman of the Committee on Workplace Diversity of the Yale University Council, his undergraduate alma mater. He has received several leadership awards, including the U.S. Department of the Air Force’s Decoration for Exceptional Civilian Service and the Spirit of Excellence from the American Bar Association.

Mr. Casellas received his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
