OTTSVILLE, PA, USA October 22, 2007 - Last week, Investors in Software (IiS) held a training course in London, UK, on how Software Asset Management professionals should implement ISO/IEC 19770-1, the Software Asset Management standard released by ISO last year.

“A clear distinction was made between the common ‘license compliance’ approach to managing software and the full Software Asset Management program outlined in the standard,” stated Krzysztof (Chris) Baczkiewicz, Eracent’s IT Standard Support Manager and a participant in the course.

Direct application of Software Asset Management business strategies to accomplish the goals necessary for compliance to the standard were presented and discussed. IiS also revealed their new self-assessment tool that will help organizations identify the current deficiencies that need to be addressed for compliance.

“This course expanded our thinking beyond current issues and provided an opportunity to plan strategic actions that will lead to compliance with the standard and better results for the entire software program. The development of additional tools that offer practical help like the self-assessment tool are a necessary next step,” stated Baczkiewicz.
