$250,000 project will improve natural gas distribution system for Alliant customers

Continuing its commitment to ensure safe and reliable natural gas service, crews contracted by Interstate Power and Light (IPL), an Alliant Energy company, have begun to rebuild a gas line in Eldora.

IPL crews will be replacing older steel gas pipe with new plastic pipe. Eldora residents can expect work to begin on Tuesday, October 16 and to be completed by December 31, 2007.

During the project, some customers in the work area may have their natural gas service turned off for a short period of time. Alliant Energy crews will attempt to contact all impacted customers in advance, either by phone or in person. Customers are asked to be aware of crews working in the area, watch for construction equipment, changes in traffic flow and use slower speeds in work areas.

“This upgrade project is part of our commitment to provide safe, reliable gas service for our Eldora customers,” says Kay Ryan, manager of customer service for Alliant Energy. “We appreciate the cooperation of everyone who works, lives and visits this area of Eldora during this important project.”
