Canon U.S.A., Inc., Canon Virginia, Inc. And Christopher Newport University Introduce The Christopher Newport University - Canon Leadership Scholars Program

Demonstrating their commitment to supporting the development of American business leaders, Canon U.S.A., Inc., Canon Virginia, Inc. (CVI), and Christopher Newport University (CNU) today announced the formation of the Christopher Newport University – Canon Leadership Scholars Program.

Beginning in August 2008, the top 25 students chosen to participate in CNU’s President’s Leadership Program will become Canon Leadership Scholars. They will each receive a $5,000 merit scholarship over four years, for a total of $20,000. Through leadership studies, prominent guest speakers, study abroad opportunities, an outdoor leadership program, internships and a public service requirement of at least 100 hours, Canon U.S.A., CVI and CNU will empower the lives of students who possess exceptional intellect and passion.

To be considered for the Christopher Newport University – Canon Leadership Scholars Program, students must have, among other qualifications, a minimum high school grade point average of 3.75 and a minimum SAT score of 1300. In addition, students must also demonstrate excellence and exceptional potential in the areas of leadership, scholarship and citizenship
