DUBLIN, Ohio – A new structural adhesive for boat builders was introduced today by Ashland Specialty Polymers and Adhesives (SP&A), at the International Boat Builders Exposition (IBEX) in Miami. Ashland’s SP&A is a business group of Ashland Performance Materials, a division of Ashland Inc. (NYSE: ASH).

Ashland introduced PLIOGRIP 1000 marine structural adhesives with a series of demonstrations to boat builders attending the conference. The two-part adhesive is available in bulk and cartridge formulations, and in side-by-side comparisons with other adhesives, PLIOGRIP 1000 adhesive shows less shrinkage and no voids or “boil” sometimes caused by the reaction between adhesive components.

“Our new PLIOGRIP 1000 series of marine adhesives was produced from extensive scientific research with a focus on the needs of boat builders,” said Marc Benevento, product manager, Ashland SP&A. “They said they wanted less sag, adjustable cure times, less shrinkage and no ‘boil.’ And we’ve delivered.”
