SunGard Higher Education Ships PowerCAMPUS 7

SunGard Higher Education (http://www.sungardhe.com) today announced that the newest version of the PowerCAMPUS administrative system for small and mid-sized institutions is now available to customers worldwide. Featuring significant enhancements in the user interface, greater customizability, and enhanced self-service, search, and workflow capabilities, PowerCAMPUS 7 helps institutions deliver an improved online experience for constituents.

PowerCAMPUS is a Microsoft-based, comprehensive administrative system that helps institutions with admissions, academic records, advancement, billing and cash receipts, financial aid, finance, human resources, and portal needs.

Several customer institutions worked with SunGard Higher Education in a preview program to influence PowerCAMPUS 7 development. “Working as a partner with SunGard Higher Education, we were able to incorporate the perspectives of our students and instructors into the review and testing of new PowerCAMPUS functionality,” said Louise Gabel, Alvernia College. “The resulting PowerCAMPUS Self-Service course management component provides new flexibility and features that enhance the educational process and provide self-service users with improved navigation and process flow.”

The enhanced .NET-based PowerCAMPUS Self-Service component provides an easier and more convenient way to communicate, collaborate, and perform personalized administrative functions such as enter/view grades, take attendance, and make payments.

Other integrated processes support a range of activities such as applying for admission or grading a course. New workflow capabilities automate steps, and a new visual indicator enables students to monitor their progress toward completion of a particular task. The enhancements help empower campus constituents with more flexible and convenient methods for managing their relationships with the institution. Campus staff and administrators can focus more time on teaching and learning, rather than on previously time-consuming, manual tasks.
