Bell Celebrity Gala raises $1 million for SickKids Foundation
Bell Canada today announced that
the 2007 Bell Celebrity Gala raised $1 million for SickKids Foundation, in
support of The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids).
More than 1,800 guests and more than 100 Canadian and international celebrities
from the worlds of entertainment, sports and media attended last night’s gala,
a fundraising cornerstone of Bell Canada’s five-year, $10-million commitment
to the Foundation. That commitment, announced in 2005, includes $5 million in
proceeds from the gala and the Bell Celebrity Golf Tournament, matched by a
$5 million corporate gift to be contributed over the five years.
Since 1977, Bell has partnered in numerous programs that help SickKids
provide world-class care for children. Those include support for hospital
fundraising campaigns, a pilot telehealth child home care project and the
hospital’s multimedia theatre in the newly renovated Cardiac Diagnostic and

hospital each year. Close to 50,000 children are treated in the Emergency
Department alone. SickKids cares for children from all over Canada and from
more than 40 countries each year.
The Bell Celebrity Gala is the winner of the 2004, 2005 and 2006 Canadian
Event Industry’s STAR Award for Best Event Produced for a Charitable
Organization in Canada.
