Kalispell earns EPA Clean Water Act award

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will present a wastewater management award to the city of Kalispell on Monday, Oct. 1.

EPA Region 8 Assistant Administrator Steve Tuber said, “This EPA award recognizes innovative processes and practices at wastewater treatment facilities. Well-managed facilities such as this one help ensure a clean environment and protect the public’s health.”

At 7 p.m. on Monday at the Kalispell City Hall, Council Chambers, in Kalispell, Mont., EPA officials will present a Regional First Place Award for outstanding and innovative achievements through operations and maintenance at the Kalispell Wastewater Treatment Facility. During the past year the facility demonstrated outstanding automation, biosolids management, and equipment maintenance management operations. The award will be presented during a city council meeting to Plant Manager Curtis Konecky, Water Resource Manager Joanne Hall Emrick, and the plant staff.
