Kenworth Names Dealer Service Technician Winners in PACCAR Medium Duty Engine Skills Competition

KIRKLAND, Wash.– Kenworth dealer service technicians in the United States and Canada recently participated in the 2007 National PACCAR Medium Duty Engine Skills Competition. The competition was designed to increase product knowledge and recognize diagnostic and troubleshooting excellence on the new PACCAR PX-6 and PX-8 engines for Kenworth’s medium duty trucks.

The top six Kenworth service technician qualifiers advanced to the finals, which were held in conjunction with the Kenworth Customer Support Meeting in St. Louis. The final competition focused on skills-based demonstrations of troubleshooting, diagnostic, service and repair proficiency on both the PACCAR PX-6 and PX-8 engines. Competitors were judged on time, accuracy, efficiency, and thoroughness in diagnosing and repairing engine issues.

Rickey Moss of Kenworth of Indianapolis captured the first-place prize of $5,000. In the runner-up spot was Stuart Hammersley of Kenworth Kitchener in Kitchener, Ont., and third place went to Mike Hoppe of Kenworth of St Louis. Other finalists included Eric Dagenais and Eric Genesse, both of Kenworth Montreal, and Rick Lowres of Inland Kenworth – Prince George, B.C. The finalists were honored at the awards banquet during the recent Kenworth Customer Support Meeting in St. Louis.

The PACCAR PX-6 and PX-8 medium duty engines are available in Kenworth’s medium duty conventional vehicles. The 6.7-liter PACCAR PX-6 engine is available in ratings ranging from 200 to 325 horsepower and 520 to 750 ft-lb of torque. The 8.3-liter PACCAR PX-8 engine is available in ratings ranging from 240 to 330 horsepower and a torque range of 660 to 1,000 ft-lb in addition to a 360 horsepower version for emergency vehicles.
