Macromedia MAX 2005 – Anaheim, CA – October 19, 2005 - Macromedia, Inc. (Nasdaq: MACR) today announced that this week’s shipment of the Macromedia Flash enabled iriver U10 Series devices now opens a new opportunity for Flash developers to bring engaging content to the latest consumer electronics on the Flash Platform. iriver has incorporated Macromedia Flash Lite 1.1 in the release of its U10 Series portable music players, which enables consumers to download and play rich Flash content for an enriching digital experience.

“The Flash Platform is changing the face of the consumer electronics industry worldwide, and we are delighted to see the iriver U10 Series embracing our platform,” said Al Ramadan, executive vice president and general manager of mobile and devices, Macromedia. “Users and iriver know that the experience matters. We are looking forward to seeing the new, groundbreaking content that Flash developers will deliver to the U10 Series.”

The U10 Series has a unique direct-click interface that makes it easy for users to fly through their media collection to find the right song, video, photo, or Flash game. Flash-based games, graphics, and entertainment features supplement the music component of the U10 and provide a distinct, competitive advantage for iriver. With the release of the U10, Flash developers are presented with a cutting-edge venue to develop and distribute next-generation experiences for the consumer electronics industry. The iriver U10 allows third-party Flash applications to be downloaded directly to the device.

“Macromedia Flash Lite support sets the U10 Series apart from any other portable multimedia player on the market,” said Jonathan Sasse, president, iriver America. “We are excited to bring Flash games and animations to our devices, and Flash developers can now bring even more of their rich digital experiences to this next generation of iriver devices.”

During the past year, shipments of mobile devices running Flash nearly tripled from 12 to 35 million units. Macromedia offers mobile and devices solutions for enhanced content and browsing, customized user interfaces, and converged data experiences on the Flash Platform. Flash Professional 8 enables designers and developers to create rich content and applications across desktops and devices.
