San Antonio, Texas.-Hong Kong — AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) today announced the appointment of Raymond Ng as general manager of its Vietnam operations. In his new role, Ng will be responsible for managing AT&T’s operations in Vietnam, as well as driving business development in the country’s rapidly emerging telecommunications market.

“Raymond brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role of general manager. Having overseen numerous major corporate accounts before, and built up a strong track record for driving sales growth in Asia, he has great insight into the needs of corporate customers in the region. Under his leadership, we are confident AT&T can extend its range of world-class communications services in Vietnam to support our global customers based there,” said Gopi Gopinath, vice president of AT&T Asia Pacific.

AT&T has been building up its presence in Vietnam in recent years as part of a commitment to providing global customers with advanced information and communications support wherever their businesses take them. In 2006, AT&T extended its global business to Vietnam by collaborating with one of the country’s leading telecommunications carriers, Viettel Corporation.

“I am delighted to take on the role of general manager for Vietnam at this exciting phase of our expansion and the market’s development. Vietnam is one of Asia’s fastest growing economies. As the country attracts an increasing number of multinational companies, it is critical that we deepen our reach here in order to provide our customers — who have or are looking to set up operations in this emerging market — with the kind of communications services they need to function as a globally integrated business,” said Raymond Ng.

Before his new appointment, Ng was a senior sales manager in NTT Communications from 2005 to 2007, with the responsibility of leading the Singapore sales team for the non-Japanese customer segment.

From 2002 to 2005, Ng was a regional account director at AT&T Business Services in Singapore, where he was responsible for managing ten top-tier global corporate accounts, of which nine were Fortune 500 companies.

From 2000 to 2002, Ng worked as sales manager at Concert Global Networks, which was a joint venture between AT&T and British Telecom. His responsibilities during that period included managing major corporate accounts, acquiring and developing new corporate accounts and marketing.

Ng began his career at Singapore Telecom, where he rose through the ranks from technical executive providing support for network monitoring in 1997 to assistant sales manager in the corporate business group in 1999.

Ng holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Business & Management Studies in University of Bradford.
