WEBWIRE

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently awarded $110,000 to the Pueblo of Acoma for the General Assistance Program (GAP). The primary purpose of GAP is to support the development of a core tribal environmental protection program. The tribe will use the funds to collaborate with its Realty and Engineering offices to develop standard operating procedures for its Geographic Information System/Global Positioning System. The tribe will participate in regional and national committees, boards and work groups. The tribe will also organize and host an environmental awareness and health fair, and enlist tribal interpreters to make presentations in Keres, the Acoma native language.
