Solution offers economy, simplicity and increased productivity

INDIANAPOLIS - AT&T announced today it will provide an Internet Protocol Telephony (IPT) solution for Clarian Health Partners that offers expanded capabilities at a lower cost than traditional telephony.

The IPT solution will be installed in Clarian’s newest state-of-the-art hospital, Clarian North Medical Center, which is expected to open this fall. The IPT builds on a recently completed multimillion-dollar high-speed local data and voice network that links 14 Clarian health care locations in the Indianapolis area.

Clarian Health Partners is a non-profit healthcare organization comprised of Methodist Hospital, Indiana University Hospital, Riley Hospital for Children, Clarian West Medical Center and the new Clarian North Medical Center.

The AT&T network provides secure high-speed connectivity, seamlessly integrating new and legacy communications platforms at Clarian’s main hospitals, Clarian’s statewide affiliates and its medical centers. It enables Clarian to link physicians’ offices and also integrate voice mail, instant messaging and live phone calls on an economical IP-based telephone system. The IPT also delivers greater functionality and flexibility than conventional voice services.

“IPT provides dramatic network efficiencies and enables a host of applications to better serve our patients, physicians and staff,” said Rich Johnson, Chief Information Officer, Clarian Health Partners.“Clarian now has a state-of the-art network that can deliver instant access to a patient’s complete, centralized electronic medical records, including alerts to current medical conditions and prescriptions.”

Additionally, the network will support bedside e-portable terminals that actively involve patients in their treatment on a variety of fronts -- from tracking the status of prescribed medications to ordering meals.

AT&T’s local networking solution supports Clarian’s business continuity plan by providing the flexibility to change which facilities serve as the primary and backup sites.

In addition, through the award-winning secure AT&BusinessDirect® portal,Clarian gains online access to tools that provide real-time reports on network performance and direct access to AT&T’s ordering, status, inventory and trouble management and billing systems.
