Scopus®, the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature and quality web sources with smart tools to track, analyze and visualize research, today announced that two more Australian institutes have chosen the Scopus database for its comprehensive content coverage and its ability to serve as a research performance measurement tool. The University of Queensland, a member of the Group of Eight, and Victoria University have embraced Scopus.

“We believe the addition of Scopus to our portfolio will enhance the ongoing process of research evaluation, particularly with the RQF preparation,” said Keith Webster University Librarian and Director of Learning Services, University of Queensland. “We are very pleased with the linking capabilities between Scopus and our Institutional Repository, UQ eSpace, the simple links through to RefWorks, our latest bibliographic management utility. Subscribing to a product which has been developed in collaboration with end-users will help us improve productivity, especially when it comes to complex processes like the RQF. We are also looking at how Scopus can help the University of Queensland and its research objectives beyond the RQF assessment.”

Brian Tyrrell, Information Resources Coordinator of Victoria University, points out that, “We feel the Scopus Database has much to offer in terms of tracking the research output of Victoria University. Scopus will enable researchers to demonstrate the impact of their own publications by identifying citations to their work in the 15,000 peer reviewed titles indexed.”

“These decisions validate the contribution Scopus can make to support and grow the universities’ recognized academic reputation” said Niels Weertman, Director Product Management, Scopus. “We’re proud to be working with these two universities. It is exciting to offer them the most comprehensive literature research database and also support both institutes in attaining their research output measurement objectives.”
