BAE SYSTEMS launches facilities protection system at DSEI

WEBWIRE

DSEi, London, UK – BAE Systems launches a system designed to detect, deter and delay hostile activity at Defence Services Export International (DSEi) this week, strengthening its capability in land border and coastal solutions in homeland security.

The Key Facilities Protection Solution (KFPS) delivers effective command and control (C2), addressing the security needs of four key areas: air base, port and harbour, secure compound and industrial infrastructure. It gives operational commanders and security personnel time to respond to the threat and secure critical assets.

BAE Systems’ solution is based on the highly flexible, operationally proven Spider C2 system, which can be adapted to meet specific customer needs. Spider optimises security for existing assets and is designed to use the latest developments in sensor technologies. It can be easily integrated into existing communication networks and offers continuous monitoring capability. It uses sophisticated threat detection software to allow rapid decision-making and better co-ordination of responses to identified threats.

Marketing development and sales director Jon Wills said: "Our KFPS offering significantly strengthens our product and capability range in the HLS market. Visitors to DSEi this week will have the opportunity to see the kit in action demonstrating two de-risked scenarios relating to airbase and port and harbour security.

BAE Systems brings together a team of international and in-country partners, including independent security specialists, to define the system configuration and concept of operations, developed in collaboration with the customer.

“By encouraging local participation we can ensure technology, knowledge and skills are transferred,” says Wills. “However, we are also focused on an upgrade path, ensuring systems are in place to meet new threats as they evolve, together with through-life support and training.”
