The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has named Vera Adams as deputy federal security director (DFSD) for Los Angeles International Airport.

As DFSD, Adams will assist the FSD with all federal security responsibilities, including management of a security workforce of 2,000 men and women at the busiest origination and destination airport in the country.

“Vera is a clear-cut example of the talent the TSA draws to its managerial positions,” said Mo McGowan, assistant administrator, TSA Office of Security Operations. “The TSA staff at LAX is lucky to have a proven leader with a history of excellence throughout her career.”

Adams joins the TSA from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, where she served as executive director, Commercial Targeting and Enforcement, and as acting director of the Los Angeles Field Office. Additionally, Adams served as port director for the Los Angeles/Long Beach Seaport.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from Tulane University in New Orleans.
