Kern County Home Sales Increase in Second Quarter, Reversing a Three Quarter Slide

WEBWIRE

Kern County, California-Total net new home sales increased by 29 percent this quarter, reversing a three quarter slide. Of the 744 net sales, 740 were single-family detached with four net sales at the lone attached project in Bakersfield, according to ResidentialTrends, published quarterly Marketpointe Realty Advisors, Inc.
In the third quarter of 2005, MarketPointe expanded the survey area to all of Kern County, picking up projects in communities such as Delano and Rosamond; therefore, sales shown in the third quarter of 2005 overstates the true level of sales in the quarter as newly surveyed projects had sales over a much longer period. However, since the fourth quarter of 2005 MarketPointe is able to report true quarterly sales numbers for all of Kern County. Compared to the second quarter of 2006, the current net sales volume is down 35 percent.

In addition to MarketPointe’s quarterly surveys of Kern County, new home sales reports are published for Ventura, Imperial, Greater Los Angeles, Santa Clarita-Antelope Valleys, West Riverside, Orange, East Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego Counties.
