UPMC Cancer Centers Presents, “A Prostate Date”

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. One of the most common forms of cancer diagnosed in men in the United States, prostate cancer is highly treatable when discovered early. To provide the community with information on this disease, UPMC Cancer Centers will host an educational event titled “A Prostate Date,” from 6 to 7:45 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 11 at the Hillman Cancer Center, 5115 Centre Ave., Shadyside.

“A Prostate Date” will inform men and their spouses on the importance of early detection and the latest treatment options for prostate cancer. Featured speakers will include Joel B. Nelson, M.D., co-director of the prostate and urologic cancer program of UPMC Cancer Centers and chairman of the department of urology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine; Stephen V. Jackman, M.D., associate professor of urology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine; and Ryan P. Smith, M.D., medical director of radiation oncology at the UPMC Cancer Centers of both UPMC St. Margaret and UPMC Natrona Heights.
