The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® announced today that Brian L. Roberts, chairman and CEO of Comcast Corp., will join the explosive lineup of keynote speakers at the 2008 International CES. Roberts rounds out the impressive 2008 CES keynote program, which also includes the top executives from Microsoft, Panasonic, Intel and GM. Owned and produced by CEA, the 2008 International CES, the world’s largest tradeshow for consumer technology, will return to Las Vegas, Nevada, January 7-10, 2008.
Roberts’ keynote address, which marks Comcast’s first CES keynote, is scheduled for day two of the show, Tuesday, January 8, at 9 a.m.

“As the home entertainment and CE markets continue to converge, providing seamless connectivity of content to households around the world, we are thrilled to have the leader of the nation’s largest provider of cable, entertainment and communications products and services join the lineup of keynote speakers at the 2008 CES,” said Gary Shapiro, CEA president and CEO. “Brian Roberts has been instrumental in the growth and development of the cable and telecommunications industries, and we look forward to hearing his vision for the expansion of the home network and its impact on the content community.”

The International CES serves as the global event where the latest innovations in consumer technology and content intersect. More than 12,000 professionals from the content development community attend CES, where major Hollywood studios showcase their content, make deals and experience the next generation of content platforms.

Under Roberts’ direction, Comcast has grown into a Fortune 100 company with $25 billion in revenues in 2006, 24.1 million customers and 90,000 employees. In addition to his leadership position with Comcast, Roberts also is the chairman of the board of directors of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA), where he is serving his second consecutive term after elected chairman in 2005. He also previously served as NCTA chairman from 1995-1996, when the landmark deregulatory 1996 Telecommunications Act became law. In addition, Roberts has served two terms as chairman of CableLabs, the research and development consortium for the cable industry.

In October 2006, Roberts was inducted into the Cable Television Hall of Fame, and in May 2007, he was presented with the cable industry’s highest honor, the Distinguished Vanguard Award for Leadership. He obtained a bachelor’s of science degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Finance.

Roberts rounds out the impressive lineup of 2008 International CES keynote speakers, joining other leading executives including Microsoft’s Bill Gates, Panasonic’s Toshihiro Sakamoto, Intel’s Paul Otellini and GM’s Rick Wagoner.
