Latest Release Delivers Landmark Service-Oriented Architecture Capabilities, Expands Process Modeling and Analytics to Support the Full Process Life Cycle

Sunnyvale, CA, October 11, 2005 — Fujitsu Software Corporation today announced the availability of Interstage® Business Process Manager™ 7.1, the newest version of Fujitsu’s award-winning business process management software. Interstage Business Process Manager 7.1 features integration with CentraSite™, an SOA management platform co-developed by Fujitsu and Software AG and now generally available (see joint Fujitsu-Software AG press release also dated October 11). CentraSite provides a revolutionary new approach to service-oriented architecture (SOA) that offers the first, true universal view of integration metadata. Together, Interstage Business Process Manager and CentraSite will foster the sharing of process models and other corporate assets across the company, delivering on the SOA promise of governed shared infrastructures across organizations.

Interstage Business Process Manager 7.1 also features integration with IDS Scheer’s process modeling tool, ARIS Business Architect, enabling business analysts to leverage and automate their EPC-based process diagrams. Additionally, Fujitsu will leverage IDS Scheer’s advanced process analytics module, ARIS Process Performance Manager, allowing business users to constantly monitor and analyze their implemented processes and ensure optimal business performance. Together, the proven business process development and execution of Interstage Business Process Manager and the process design and analytics of the ARIS Platform from IDS Scheer will expand support for the whole life cycle of processes in an enterprise.

Fujitsu has further expanded the flexibility that it offers its customers when it comes to leveraging existing investments in business process analysis applications by letting them directly convert their extensive libraries of static Visio diagrams into executable business process applications within Interstage Business Process Manager. Through a partnership with Zynium, the new release will support integrated Microsoft® Visio® process map data extraction and transformation for execution within Interstage Business Process Manager.

In a recent report, Jim Sinur, vice president and distinguished analyst at Gartner states, "Business leaders are increasingly recognizing that BPM offers unique and practical guidelines to more effectively leverage information across their businesses and eliminate the inefficiencies and disconnects in their business processes. During the next several years, organizations will accelerate the education of their workforces about BPM and grow their investments in BPM-enabling technologies(1).

"As global competition drives the need for greater productivity and collaboration, enterprises are looking to optimize their processes and implement a service-oriented architecture that facilitates shared processes, resources and information,” said Robert Sepanloo, senior vice president of Interstage at Fujitsu Software Corporation. “Interstage Business Process Manager 7.1 now serves as a cornerstone of SOA through its integration with CentraSite, while expanded design and analysis capabilities enable the ability to maximize the effectiveness of business processes throughout the entire life cycle.”
Interstage Business Process Manager and CentraSite Integration Delivers Unprecedented SOA Capabilities

Interstage Business Process Manager 7.1 is now integrated with CentraSite, jointly developed by Fujitsu and Software AG to deliver a service-oriented architecture. CentraSite is central to Fujitsu’s long-term vision of providing enterprise customers with the ability to orchestrate business processes across departments and partner organizations for enhanced collaboration, increased efficiencies, and optimal business performance. The new standards-based repository is unique; it not only lets companies refine their business processes and store them in a centralized location, but it also lets them define Web services that they then can register in the repository for reuse. Users can easily browse through the repository to locate Web services and templates for reuse in their applications. In keeping with Fujitsu’s commitment to championing standards, all Web services registered will be compliant with Web services Interoperability (WS-I) standard.

Fujitsu will offer Interstage Business Process Manager 7.1 with CentraSite, as well as two CentraSite-enabled products from Software AG, Enterprise Information Integrator and Enterprise Service Integrator. These service oriented integration products enable enterprises to leverage their integration assets and provide an alignment point between business and IT.

“Fujitsu and Software AG joined forces in order to deliver a unique SOA offering to the market. We are very pleased to ship CentraSite, our first joint product,” said Dr. Peter Kuerpick, member of the board, Software AG. “CentraSite is a next generation SOA repository and builds an open foundation for management and governance of SOA projects.”
