Metal solutions and products provider Rautaruukki Oyj and ICT services company Fujitsu Services Oy have entered into an IT infrastructure service agreement in accordance with Fujitsu’s Patja operating model. This agreement marks Fujitsu’s most significant international Patja agreement to date. It incorporates all of Ruukki’s more than 5,000 workstations in 23 countries.

The Patja service covers workstation and helpdesk services, information security services and product procurement services.

"We firmly believe and trust in Patja to provide us with a solid IT infrastructure platform. IT infrastructure plays an essential part in our business operations and in implementing our business strategy”, says CIO IsmoPlatan of Ruukki.

Patja service start-up is implemented in Ruukki’s and Fujitsu’s joint project, which has already begun. The actual Patja service will be launched at the beginning of 2008.

”As the most elemental changes to our current services, our workstations will be standardised at a more detailed level and delivered to us as pre-installed. We aim at improving the stability of our workstation environment and ensuring faster and more reliable delivery times", Platan says.

Fujitsu’s Product Services will be delivering annually some 2,000 new workstations, servers and printers to Ruukki. The hardware services cover the entire logistics chain including pre-installation.

In addition to Finland and the Nordic countries, Ruukki’s operation is focused particularly on the eastern parts of Central Europe as well as Russia and Ukraine.

In the initial phase, the Helpdesk services will be provided in Finnish and English.
