AWD Software has Largest Worldwide Insurance Industry BPM Client Base

EL SEGUNDO, Calif.– Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) today announced that financial services research and advisory firm Celent LLC has recognized the Automated Work Distributor (AWD) software offered by CSC as a business process management (BPM) market leader. In its report “Business Process Management Solution Vendors for Insurers, 2007,” Celent noted that AWD has the largest insurance industry client base worldwide of all BPM vendors surveyed. Celent also acknowledged CSC as a leader in depth of client services for insurance BPM.

AWD is a product of DST Technologies Inc. CSC is the exclusive distributor to the insurance industry in the United States and has more than 90 AWD licensees worldwide. CSC provides project management, business reengineering and information technology (IT) services tailored expressly for its clients’ AWD implementations.

Celent’s second report on BPM solutions for insurers reviewed such categories as: ability to handle interactions at the person-to-person, person-to-system, and system-to-system levels; insurance templates or frameworks; and client references. Celent confirmed that AWD provides all the elements of a complete BPM solution and reported that clients gave AWD high marks on its process execution, monitoring and management functions, as well as ease of integration. Also, client references praised AWD’s usability, noting it can be administered and customized without programming.

“The insurance industry benefits from CSC’s and DST’s long-standing alliance, which successfully marries insurance-specific expertise with BPM functionality,” said Donald Light, senior analyst in Celent’s Insurance Group. “CSC’s clients praise its knowledgeable people who care about their clients’ businesses and want them to succeed.”

“Our clients report great cost savings, productivity and agility from implementing AWD,” said Michael W. Risley, president of the Life and Annuity division of CSC’s Financial Services Sector. “Because of its value in improving insurers’ business results, AWD has become an integral part of CSC’s life insurance market strategy and a technology foundation for our Accelerator suite of products – nbAccelerator, Customer Service Accelerator and Claims Management Accelerator.”

Celent’s “Business Process Management Solution Vendors for Insurers, 2007” identifies six elements of a complete BPM solution: process design and development environment; process repository and management; process execution engine; execution history; monitoring and management; and analytics, modeling and optimization. Solutions covered in the report had to meet several criteria, including reasonably robust functionality in all six areas above, an established insurance industry presence, and insurance-specific marketing/sales or insurance templates or frameworks.
