Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS), an international communications and information technology company, is expanding its presence in Brazil to help the company service its expanding customer base in the growing South American broadcast product, systems and services market.

In September, the company plans to move from its smaller Alphaville office to a new, larger office at 1511 Berrini Avenue in the Brooklin neighborhood of São Paolo. The new, expanded office will serve as regional headquarters for Harris Broadcast Communications’ growing Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) operations.

The new office will house a growing sales operation with pre- and post-sales engineering resources, along with administrative staff for accepting orders and structuring logistics. A laboratory and repair center equipped with test equipment and spare parts will allow Harris to better service its large and growing installed base in transmission, infrastructure, digital media and software solutions. The facility also will include conference and training rooms for Harris staff as well as customers.

“Harris considers Brazil to be one of the most promising and fastest-growing broadcast markets in the world, with unique requirements amongst a large group of TV and radio broadcasters,” said Tim Thorsteinson, president of Harris Broadcast Communications. “Opening our new Brazilian office confirms our strong commitment to the local broadcast industry and our regional customers.”

“The Harris brand is very well established in Brazil and throughout Latin America, with more than 50 years of history and tradition supporting the Brazilian broadcast industry,” said Nahuel Villegas, regional vice president for CALA, Harris Broadcast Communications. “Our success there, particularly during the past five years, has created a very large installed base of Harris broadcast customers and equipment that require support. Expanding into this new facility will make Harris more accessible and convenient to our customers, and allow for faster response times and improved service and support from our growing Harris team in Latin America.”
