Thilmany Papers Implements Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.- Thilmany Papers, a leading manufacturer of specialty lightweight papers and business unit of Packaging Dynamics Corporation, has implemented Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne in order to create a single, integrated enterprise resource planning (ERP) system that will help streamline operations, improve decision-making and reduce costs.

After Thilmany became an independent business in June 2005, it needed to replace multiple legacy systems - including SAP - in an effort to create a single infrastructure that would deliver enhanced visibility across the organization. After an extensive evaluation process, Thilmany chose Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne because it provided integrated functionality, could be quickly deployed and would deliver an attractive total cost of ownership.

“We have been able to completely implement JD Edwards EnterpriseOne while integrating several industry leading, third party solutions in just 16 months,” said Thilmany’s IT Director Rod Glauser. “Oracle’s solid track-record and many successes with other manufacturers in our industry were very reassuring. Now, we have full visibility across our business - from sales through invoicing, for both work-in-progress and finished goods - and are beginning to reap the rewards of our implementation. Both Thilmany and Oracle expect that significant cost savings will be achieved as a result of leveraging the powerful capabilities of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne across our business.”

Thilmany devised an aggressive two-phase implementation plan. Phase one involved replacement of legacy financial and plant maintenance applications. Phase two involved replacement of legacy systems in the areas of sales order management, manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, shipping and invoicing. Working with implementation partner WhiteLight Group LLC, a Certified Partner in Oracle PartnerNetwork, Thilmany was able to complete both phases - involving over 1000 users at two facilities - within 16 months.

Thilmany also relies on the Oracle(r) Database to provide a reliable infrastructure and to help ensure high data quality.
