High-Capacity microSD™ Cards Selected For Enabling New Digital Media Applications on Mobile Handsets

MILPITAS, CALIFORNIA.– SanDisk® Corporation (NASDAQ: SNDK) today announced that its line of microSD™ High Capacity (microSDHC™) flash memory cards has received the 2007 Best of Show award in the Application category from the Flash Memory Summit, an annual technology conference held last week in Santa Clara, California. With growing interest by consumers to enjoy media such as music, pictures and video on advanced mobile phones, microSDHC provides higher capacity storage to help them get more out of these devices.

“Flash memory applications are currently pushing the envelope of innovation, making a real difference in solving customer challenges,” said Jay Kramer, chairman of the awards program for the Flash Memory Summit, and vice president of worldwide marketing for iStor Networks Inc. “SanDisk is driving this transformation by rapidly expanding the storage capacity of flash memory cards, creating the foundation for exciting new applications such as mobile digital media.”

“We’re honored that our industry colleagues recognize the game-changing importance of high-capacity removable storage for cell phones,” said Jeff Kost, senior vice president and general manager of the Mobile Consumer Solutions Division at SanDisk. “Consumers are learning that high-capacity storage cards like the 8-gigabyte (GB)1 SanDisk microSDHC cards are necessary to take full advantage of their multimedia phones to listen to their music, watch and record their videos, view pictures and even watch TV shows and movies. We believe this is the start of the golden age for expanded digital content use in cell phones.”

SanDisk recently kicked off a global marketing campaign at the Rock The Bells Music Festival in New York, produced by Guerilla Union, to introduce its 8G SanDisk storage cards for cell phones. The objective of the campaign is to educate consumers about the need for high capacity storage cards to take full advantage of the multimedia features of their phones—to listen to music, play and record video, take and view photos and more.

SanDisk offers a complete line of microSD and microSDHC cards that range in capacity from 1GB to 8GB. An 8GB microSDHC card is capable of storing more than 2,000 digital songs, or more than 5,000 high-resolution pictures, or up to 5 hours of high-quality MPEG 4 video2.

SDHC is the designation for any SD™ or SD-based card that is larger than 2GB and adheres to the new SD 2.00 specification required for cards and hosts to support 4GB to 32GB capacities. The specification was developed by the SD Association, an industry standards board, which has also created three classes to define minimum sustained data transfer speed.

In addition to microSDHC, SanDisk offers a broad range of both embedded and removable storage solutions for mobile handset manufacturers and mobile network operators. Product lines include iNAND™ and mDOC™ embedded flash drives and microSD™, miniSD™, Memory Stick Micro™ (M2) and MegaSIM™ cards.

Hosted by Conference ConCepts, Inc., the annual Flash Memory Summit conference and exhibition is the industry’s only forum for attendees to gain the latest practical information on current flash memory technology and applications.
