San Antonio, Texas.-AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) announced today that leading industry analyst firm Gartner Inc. has positioned AT&T in the Leaders Quadrant of the 2007 “Magic Quadrant for U.S. Wireless Service Providers” report.*

According to Gartner, the U.S. Wireless Services Provider Magic Quadrant report assesses suppliers of wireless and mobile enterprise networking solutions in the U.S based on their ability to execute and completeness of vision. This includes “cellular voice, low- and high-speed data services, and remote access services.” In addition, it includes “large U.S. cellular service providers that own licenses, or have partnered to sell regional or national enterprise wireless voice and data services, in Tier 1 and Tier 2 markets.”

Gartner defines Leaders as wireless companies that “impact competitors by the choices they make in technology and handset offerings, their focus on the enterprise segment, and their capability to differentiate and be first to market with unique products. The launch of a new handset or technology, recognizing the need for coverage in a specific area or partnering with new application providers must all be done with an enterprise focus.”

“We believe AT&T’s positioning in the Leaders Quadrant by a respected third party such as Gartner helps to underscore what we have accomplished during the past three years in building a wireless organization that is solely focused on the unique and often complex needs of business and government customers of all types and sizes,” said Kent Mathy, president, Business Markets Group, AT&T.

“We’ve largely completed a $250 million total overhaul of our wireless business-to-business back-end systems that has resulted in significant improvements in customer satisfaction,” Mathy said. “Our wireline and wireless business-to-business sales teams were aligned within four months of the AT&T-BellSouth merger. We’ve built industry-leading portfolios in wireless devices, e-mail, line of business and international services so that our customers can give their mobile workers immediate access to critical business systems and information both in the U.S. and abroad. And we continue to work passionately every day to build a business customer experience that will be second to none.”

AT&T provides wireless services to 95 percent of the Fortune 100 companies and counts more than 80 percent of the Fortune 500, and some 1,800 federal, state and local government agencies, as customers.
