The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® announced today a partnership with American Express to help celebrate the fifth anniversary of the CEknowhow retail training program. The American Express sponsorship will enable the CEknowhow curriculum to be broadly distributed throughout the retail community. The curriculum can be found on www.CEknowhow.com and on The Cyber Scholar Learning Network (www.cyberScholar.com), which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.

Launched in 2002 by CEA’s Wireless Communications Division, the CEknowhow curriculum is now widely lauded as the industry standard for online consumer electronics category-level training. CEknowhow, while remaining brand neutral, introduces retail sales associates to the fundamental information needed to understand and sell products like digital televisions, digital cameras and audio systems as well as the multitude of accessories needed to ensure a positive customer experience.

Five years after its launch, the seven CEknowhow modules are viewed as a vital part of the core curriculum offered by many of the industry’s largest retailers. Eight of the top 50 CE retailers*, representing more than $44 billion in annual revenue, officially recommend or require CEknowhow course completion for their employees. Top retailers like Best Buy, Ritz Camera and others rely on the CEknowhow curriculum to introduce their employees to new product categories and to train their temporary holiday sales staff.

“CEknowhow and The Cyber Scholar Learning Network are vital training tools for the CE industry,” said CEA President and CEO Gary Shapiro. “CEA places a strong emphasis on retailer training to better serve consumers and enhance the purchasing experience. Working with American Express will help us to further achieve both of these goals.”

“Training programs such as CEknowhow are absolutely critical in ensuring that employees have the tools to deliver exemplary customer service,” said Christopher Hollins, vice president retail industries, American Express Merchant Services. “As a company with a long history of valuing employee training and customer service, American Express is delighted to partner with CEA in support of the fifth anniversary of CEknowhow.“
