Oracle Provides Six New Validated Configurations for Linux Customers

WEBWIRE

Oracle today announced six new configurations, now available on Oracle® Enterprise Linux, as part of the Oracle Validated Configurations program. Providing proven architectures that include software, hardware, storage, drivers and networking components; tested in real-world environments, Oracle Validated Configurations help Linux customers to achieve standardization, scalability and reliability while lowering infrastructure costs. The continued momentum of Oracle Validated Configurations is a result of customers’ direct feedback, enthusiastic partner participation and Oracle’s consistent dedication to supporting, promoting and advancing Linux for mission critical deployments.
Together with strategic partners, Oracle established the Oracle Validated Configurations program to enable customers to simplify deployment and reduce the need for expensive testing of Linux solutions. Oracle has published more than 30 configurations -- pre-tested, validated architectures together with documented best practices for deployment -- since the start of the program in June 2006. Oracle Validated Configurations provide details on what to deploy, how to deploy, and recommendations on hardware and software combinations that have proven to be the most robust.

“Oracle continues its focus on providing the tools, resource and expertise to help customers accelerate Linux deployments and lower implementation costs,” said Wim Coekaerts, vice president Linux Engineering, Oracle. “Linux continues to gain market share and is increasingly selected as the operating system of choice by our customers. As a result, Oracle and our partners have experienced significant customer demand for Oracle Validated Configurations.”

Over the past year, Oracle has worked closely with more than a dozen leading vendors to design and test complete stacks on Linux, including:

* Server and Storage: Brocade, Compellent, Dell, Egenera EMC, Hitachi Data Systems, HP, IBM, Liquid Computing, NetApp, Pillar Data, Sun and Unisys
* Platform Technology: AMD, Intel
* HBA Drivers: Emulex, QLogic
* Storage Networking: Cisco Systems
New partners that have recently joined the program include Compellent, Liquid Computing, and Unisys.

The latest Oracle Validated Configurations, utilizing Oracle Enterprise Linux, comprise configurations with Compellent, Dell, Egenera, EMC, HP, Pillar Data and Unisys.
